Antonio Petralia

Antonio Petralia (Catania, class of 1966) is a drummer, among the most active in the national jazz scene, composer, artistic director.
With his heart beating in swing time and his eyes always on new challenges, Antonio is the soul and engine of the’Musikante Association, with which he initiated festivals and reviews that are now a benchmark for jazz in Italy.

“If I Flew Tomorrow (If I Flew)” is the new single produced by Musikante, born from the dialogue between dream and awareness, between desire and freedom - an inner flight suspended between sky and music.
The track bears the signature of Antonio Petralia e Simona Trentacoste, and represents a meeting point between the delicacy of auteur pop and the depth of contemporary jazz language.

🕊 A special dedication
The song is dedicated to the memory of the great friend Peppe Famà, with which - together with Enrico Incatasciato e Marzia Fleres - The first draft of the piece was born in 2002.
After more than two decades, “If Tomorrow I Fly” is reborn in a new artistic guise, dense with emotion and authenticity.

💫 A collaboration of excellence
The jazz arrangement and adaptation of the English text are edited by Simona Trentacoste, who also signs a touching vocal performance.
A special mention goes to the master Roberto Martinelli For the revision and arrangement of the pop version.

Music Training 🎼

Antonio Petralia - Musikante
His history with music starts early, but it is the drums that become his main voice.
It is formed at the Conservatory “Vincenzo Bellini” of Catania, where he earned a degree in Drums and Jazz Percussion with a thesis dedicated to pianist Bill Evans. His thirst for knowledge led him to attend master classes with jazz legends such as. Stjepko Gut, Barry Harris, and with teaching musicians including. Salvatore Bonafede e John Mazarin, nurturing a personal style that blends technique, expressiveness and interpretive sensitivity.

Antonio's drumming has accompanied some of the greatest artists on the Italian jazz scene. Among them, Francesco Cafiso, Joseph Milici, Massimo Moriconi, Roberto Martinelli, Anita Vitale, Simona Trentacoste, Tony Brundo e Francis Pantusa.

He founded and led original projects such as the Triton Jazz Trio, l’APJ Trio and the SMAT Quartet, bringing his music to prestigious festivals and theaters in Italy and abroad.

Since 2008, Antonio has been the creative mind behind festivals that have made jazz resonate in the most beautiful places in Sicily:

With his direction, each event becomes an experience, where music is intertwined with history, landscape and people. Since 2022, he has curated the production direction of the national Italian Jazz for the Earthquake Lands - L'Aquila, in collaboration with I-Jazz, bringing Sicily to the center of the Italian jazz map.
Editorial Activity - “Both Heaven and Earth” 📖🌌

In 2025 Antony published “Both Heaven and Earth”, a novel that is at once a life story, a musical journey and a reflection on the human soul.
Between family memories, artistic encounters, and introspection, the book reveals his philosophy: music as a bridge between people, as a space of freedom, and as a place where heaven and earth meet.
