🎶 The project: Jazz ‘Round Etna - Jazz Routes on the Territory

Jazz ‘Round Etna is an original format designed and promoted by the’Musikante Cultural Association, an integral part of the three-year planning “Jazz Pathways”, funded and supported by the Ministry of Culture - Single Fund for the Performing Arts.

The project was created with the intention of Bringing jazz to the territories of Etna volcano, creating a widespread network of events, concerts, workshops, educational paths and cultural actions in the villages and urban centers of the Etna belt.

Music, identity, community, landscape: these are the four pillars of a project that aims to promote contemporary music culture while enhancing the area's natural and human heritage.


🎯 Strategic Goals.

  • Spreading jazz culture even in underserved areas, promoting their accessibility;
  • Fostering listening education through educational meetings, workshops and activities in schools;
  • Encouraging dialogue between generations, established artists and young talent;
  • Enhancing the value of places: squares, parks, theaters, churches and nature sites become open-air stages;
  • Promoting sustainability, social inclusion, gender equality and respect for diversity;
  • Create a permanent circuit of artistic enhancement, which remains active beyond the single issue.

📍 Where it takes place

The project consists of musical and educational stages in municipalities on the Etnean side, including:

  • Piedimonte Etneo
  • Nicolosi
  • Zafferana Etnea
  • Pedara
  • Linguaglossa
  • Bronte
  • Trecastagni
  • Adrano
  • Biancavilla
  • Santa Maria Di Licodia
  • and other villages in Etna Park.

Each stage is designed as a unique event, built in synergy with local governments, area schools, conservatories, associations and citizens.


🎷 The Format: Jazz that inhabits places.

Jazz ‘Round Etna is proposed as a total, accessible, immersive and participatory musical experience. Activities include:

  • 🎵 Live concerts with nationally and internationally prominent artists;
  • 🥁 Music workshops and laboratories For young musicians and school students;
  • 🎓 Concert lectures and educational activities For primary and secondary schools;
  • 🗣️ Talks and meetings with artists On cultural, social and musical issues;
  • 🍷 Jazz & Territory: events that combine music, nature, local products and 0 km food and wine experiences;
  • 📽️ Documentation and visual storytelling to tell the story of the project at each stage.

🌱 An ethical, sustainable and inclusive vision.

In the vein of Musikante's planning, “Jazz ‘Round Etna” is designed to integrating art and social responsibility, through inclusive artistic choices, attention to equal opportunities, participation of young people, women, and peripheral territories.

It is a project that is open to discussion, co-design, the creation of local and national networks, in constant dialogue with organizations, institutions, foundations, festival circuits, including. I-Jazz, AIAM, MIDJ, and the Permanent Forum on Emerging Creativity.

Through Jazz ‘Round Etna, the Musikante Association intends to strengthen its territorial presence and promote a New vision of culture as a lever of social cohesion, sustainable development and active citizenship.

Jazz, a universal language, becomes in this context a bridge between territories and people, between past and present, between tradition and innovation.
