APJ Trio

The acronym derives from the name of Catanese drummer and composer Antonio Petralia, creator of this Sicilian Trio formed by experienced jazz musicians, admirers of the “Piano Trio.” Together they propose, with humility and great respect, to retrace the paths of the great pioneers of the “Piano Trio,” including Bill Evans, Keith Jarrett, and many others. The repertoire, particularly carefully chosen, will be performed with their own arrangements and dynamics, while respecting the original structures. The trio, formed in 2019, has numerous concerts to its credit with excellent feedback from audiences and critics, and is planning a recording work that will be entirely dedicated to Antonio Petralia's unpublished compositions, including “It's Never Too Late, Tita's Changes, Stolen Steps and Beautiful Sons.”.

APJ Trio:
Sam Mortellaro piano,
Alberto Amato double bass, Antonio Petralia drums.
