
The review Battiati Jazz Festival 2026, promoted by the’Musikante Cultural Association with the artistic direction of Antonio Petralia, continued its journey in the Gardens of the Sant’Agata Li Battiati Cultural Center with a new event dedicated to the encounter between music and literature, a distinctive feature of the association's cultural productions.
The protagonist of the evening was the Simone Bruno Quartet, a group led by the vibraphonist and composer Simone Bruno, a musician capable of combining a solid jazz tradition with original, modern, and deeply personal writing. Performing alongside him were Daniele Zappalà to the trumpet, Angelo Cultreri on double bass and Antonio Petralia on drums, giving life to a close-knit ensemble rich in expressive nuances.
The concert featured a repertoire that explored the different facets of jazz, alternating swing, hard bop, and latin jazz influences with original compositions, in which the vibraphone became the center of an intense and dynamic musical dialogue. The interplay among the musicians, the quality of the arrangements, and the ample space dedicated to improvisation offered the audience an engaging listening experience, characterized by balance, energy, and great interpretive sensitivity.
The presentation of the novel preceded the concert. “What we do with love” of the writer Massimo Maugeri, confirming Musikante's desire to weave music and literature into a single cultural journey. The meeting between the two arts indeed represents one of the distinctive elements of the association's programming, which has promoted opportunities for dialogue between authors, musicians, and the public for years.
