
The review Liberty in Jazz 2026 continues its summer season “In the Garden” with an appointment of great artistic intensity: the protagonist, in the evocative setting of the historic garden of Villa Ardizzone Events, l’Anita Vitale 5et with the project “My Sicily”.
Promoted by the’Musikante Cultural Association with the artistic direction of Antonio Petralia, the evening focused on one of the most refined and profound voices in Italian and international jazz. Originally from Brolo, Anita Vitale In time, he has built a personal and recognizable artistic path, in which vocal research, improvisation, and interpretive sensitivity meet in a language of great expressive power.
Alongside him is a high-profile team composed of Daniele Zappalà to the trumpet, Francis Pantusa on guitar, Davide Inguaggiato on double bass and Antonio Petralia on drums, with the extraordinary participation of Antonio Bonasera ...with saxophones, the special guest of the evening.
“My Sicily” It stems from the meeting between music and literature and is inspired by the eponymous book by Giovanni Nicolosi, bringing to life a narrative capable of evoking identity, memory, landscapes, and emotions deeply tied to the island. The repertoire wove together pieces from jazz tradition, standards reinterpreted with contemporary sensitivity, and compositions in the Sicilian language, building a bridge between cultural roots and improvisational freedom.
To make the project even more original, the alternation between musical moments and readings from the volume, entrusted to the same Giovanni Nicolosi and Alice Ferlito. Word and sound met in a shared narrative, transforming the concert into a multidisciplinary and deeply evocative artistic experience.
With this new appointment, “In the Garden” confirms its identity as a space dedicated to listening, research, and the encounter between different expressive languages, continuing the cultural journey of Liberty in Jazz and the commitment of the Musikante Cultural Association in promoting original projects of a high artistic caliber.
An evening dedicated to Sicily, told through voice, music, and word: a journey between memory and contemporaneity, belonging and creative freedom.
