“Two of a Kind – Jazz Conversations”: il dialogo creativo tra Roberto Gervasi e Nicola Giammarinaro per l’International Jazz Day 2026

On the occasion of’International Jazz Day 2026, celebrated worldwide under the auspices of UNESCO and the Herbie Hancock Institute of Jazz, the’Musikante Cultural Association, in collaboration with the Municipality of Sant'Agata Li Battiati, presented one of the most significant events of its season: “Two of a Kind – Jazz Conversations”, an original project that places dialogue, mutual listening, and the expressive freedom of jazz at its core.

The stars of the evening were two musicians of extraordinary artistic sensitivity, Roberto Gervasi on the accordion and Nicola Giammarinaro to the clarinet, united by a profound musical affinity and a shared interpretive vision. Their encounter has given rise to an intense and engaging sonic conversation, built through interplay, improvisation, melodic counterpoints, and a continuous search for balance between tradition and innovation.

Next to the two leaders, the presence of Davide Inguaggiato on double bass and Antonio Petralia At the drums, he ensured a solid, dynamic rhythm section that was perfectly integrated into the quartet's musical dialogue. The repertoire alternated between jazz tradition standards and original compositions, maintaining the spirit of bebop and the great swing tradition as a common thread, enriched by openings towards contemporary lyricism and new expressive forms.

The event was further enhanced by the introduction and guidance of Riccardo Gangemi and from the presence of an art installation curated by Andrea Urzì, creating an original encounter between music and visual arts and offering the public a multidisciplinary cultural experience.

“Two of a Kind – Jazz Conversations” perfectly embodied the spirit of International Jazz Day: a celebration of jazz as a universal language of dialogue, inclusion, and cultural sharing. An evening of great participation and artistic quality that confirmed the role of the Associazione Culturale Musikante as a benchmark in the promotion of jazz and contemporary arts in Sicily.
