
Grand finale for the Battiati Jazz Festival 2026 – Notes in Theatre, which concluded its season with the concert by Michele Sperandio Quartet and the project “The Sea of Music”, an intense and original artistic proposal that has won over audiences through a musical journey rich in suggestions and influences.
Led by the drummer and composer from the Marche region Michele Sperandio, the quartet presented a repertoire inspired by the sea, a universal symbol of freedom, journey, and inner exploration. This common thread allowed the ensemble to traverse different musical landscapes, ranging from singer-songwriter to contemporary jazz compositions, and even referencing the progressive tradition of the seventies, in a refined balance between composition and improvisation.
On stage, alongside Michele Sperandio on drums, performed Marta Giulioni aloud, Simone Maggio on the piano Lorenzo Scipioni on the double bass, bringing to life an intense and dynamic musical dialogue, characterized by great rapport, interpretive sensitivity, and executive quality.
The performance highlighted the ensemble's versatility and artistic depth, capable of creating evocative atmospheres and moments of strong emotional impact. The original compositions and arrangements accompanied the audience on a sonic journey that managed to combine lyricism, energy, and contemporary exploration, confirming the value of one of the most interesting projects on the national jazz scene.
This concert marked the end of a particularly significant edition of the Battiati Jazz Festival – Notes on Stage, promoted by the’Musikante Cultural Association, which, even in 2026, offered a lineup of high artistic caliber, hosting musicians and projects from various realities of Italian and European jazz.
A high-quality closing that confirmed the festival as one of the main events dedicated to contemporary jazz in Sicily, capable of combining artistic excellence, audience development, and territorial enhancement.
